A thought from Jon Beam, Chairman of NH Alliance

God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. It is important to keep all these factors in balance. Sometimes God calls His people to defy human wisdom or act out of great faith, even to the point of martyrdom or the working of miracles. Other times, God calls His people to humbly walk in wisdom, and be the grown-ups in the room. The grid below gives some example responses to COVID-19, with the fruit that they might bear. The questions to ask are: 1.) what might this activity do to God’s reputation, and 2.) is this activity motivated by love?

Things that will glorify God (enhance God’s reputation) and/or help peopleThings that will cause God’s reputation to suffer or hurt people
Healthy people deliver food to the infirmHealthy people not being careful, and thus being carriers
Prayer with others by phone / videoLarge public gatherings (especially without preventative protocols)
Healthy people watching kidsBreaking the law for no good reason
Healing prayerArogant words
Praying against the spiritual powers at workAny risky behavior not undertaken with prayer, good counsel, and consensus that the Spirit is leading
Counseling/encouraging (via phone/video if possible)
Positive social media interactions
Pool financial resources (like Acts 2)
Give to those in need: (hourly workers, workers in shut-down industries)
